From the misty pages of history comes a story of extreme valour, fierce pride and poignant love. As the British enslave India with their devious Divide and Rule policy, kings and nawabs fall to their guile and cunning, and entrust their precious kingdom to the foreigners.Except for the brave Pindaris, who prefer death to dishonour and will fight to their last breath to save their land...their mother. The bravest, the toughest, the strongest of the Pindaris is Veer. As Veer takes on the might of the British Empire, he also has to fight the conniving King of Madavgarh as well his own jealous tribesmen.

But then the stakes are high... At stake is his love for princess Yashodhara, daughter of his sworn enemy...At stake is his thirst to avenge his father's dishonour...At stake is his very existence itself....Cannons roar, swords clash in fierce battle, the dead pile up... And when the dust settles down on the blood soaked land...one valiant warrior stands head and shoulders above them all - Veer!

Veer - an epic saga of bravery and drama, treachery and love

With VEER, Salman too tries his hand at a action period flick reliving his SURVYAVANSHI days. Looks like Salman took up the onus of adding some masala to the particular genre.

Sallu, therefore, cooks up a story that would suit his superstar image, ropes in the director Anil Sharma of GADAR fame to aid him in this task. He believes the fans would lap up a mish mash serving of the TROY / BRAVEHEART / GLADIATOR incorporated into the British Raj era. From the previews it is obvious that the timeline is the last thing on the makers minds, with action being accentuated. So irrespective of the century the story is set in, we know that Salman is ready to kick some serious butt!

Salman rallies up his usual gang of Jackie , bro Sohail and Mithunda for this venture. He also goes onto to give a break to newcomer Zarine Khan, who plays Princess Yashodara, the daughter of Veer's arch rival.

It might be cheesy, but it just might work. It is not a new thing for Salman or Sharma. If one remembers, director Anil Sharma 's GADAR was literally written off before the film released. But the makers went on to relase the film on the same day as LAGAAN and the rest , as they say, is history!

Will VEER be the GADAR of this decade...?

THE PANEL ROOM e-valuation
This looks like a big time dud from all angles. The promos never really set things on fire and now the early reviews suggests that this one is sinking and stinking!
You have to be a veer to sit through VEER. Colossal disappointment! Taran Adarsh 1.5/5

This mega-scale love story has patches of power but mostly veers between being ridiculous and plain borin. Anupama Chopra 2.5/5
Salim Khan deserves a better tribute than son Salman churning out this unbelievably hackneyed period disaster - Raja Sen 1/ 5
Veer doesn’t offer variety. But if you are a veracious Salman Khan fan, Veer is watchable. - Gaurav Malani 2.5/ 5
