Tales from the Counter : DESI

THIS WEEK: JAN 22
All eyes are on the Salman starrer VEER, a movie where he goes to a place where all other Khans have gone before -a period film. The reviews however are not so favourable and it is to be seen if sheer star power can pull this one through.
Despite being a sole release, CHANCE PE DANCE sank without a trace. The film just could not stay afloat and it did not have the makers dancing to the banks as they hoped for.
DownSouth: A biggie in the form of BODYGUARD releases this friday in Kerala. This Dileep -Nayantara starrer is expected to make some magic at the Kerala B O. since it has director Siddique at the helm of it all. However Pritvi raj also comes with a smaller budgeted PUNYAM AHAM.
Also making waves in the Kannada film circuit is the release of SCHOOL MASTER which incidentally is the last movie from Late Vishnuvardhan. That is another movie the fans are eagerly looking forward to.

In India, it shall be Shahid Kapoor rocking the audiences with CHANCE PE DANCE. With no major competition, it looks like Shahid-Genelia has got the moves and the grooves all for themselves.

However the same cannot be said down south for the Tamil belt shall be flooded with atleast 5 movies this Pongal fest. Of which, all eyes are certainly on the big budget extravaganza from director Selvaraghavan, AAYIRATHIL ORUVAN. The adventure flick stars Karthi, Reema Sen, Andrea and Partibhan.

Dhanush stakes a claim with KUTTI , which is a remake of the Telegu ARYA. Shreya Saran plays the leading lady in this one. Other films lined up for Pongal includes IRUMBU KOTTAI MARATTU SINGAM, NAANAYAM and PORKALAM.
