Praksha Jha shall be doing precisely that in his upcoming political drama RAJNITI. However to make the flick as interesting as possible, he has roped in a set of big names that includes Ajay Devgan, Nana Patekar, Manoj Bajpai. Even Vivek manages to find a place among these talented names.
Ajay Devgan is reported to be playing a modern day Karna while Nana saab shall play a version of Krishna. A slot for a Arjun version is also yet to be filled.

Hmm, while directors left and right are trying to do the real stuff, the project simply never takes off due to the budget invovled in bringing the mythology to screen. On the other hand, here are some who takes a smarter move by pitting the stories into modern day narration!

UPDATE JUNE 07, 08 Funny these media is...till yesterday it was a multistarrer flick. Today, with Ranbir Kapoor stepping in as lead man...it has now become a Ranbir Kapoor starrer. Ranbir Kapoor shall be playing the role of the son of a powerful political dynasty who is forced to return home and take over the political empire in Delhi. This Rajiv Gandhi meets Hindu mythology will see Ranbir in a different role and also has two leading ladies cast opposite him, one desi and one videsi. source: Mumbai mirror
