MoviemagiK previews GET SMART (2008)

release date: June 20 2008
genre: Comedy
Cast: Steve Carrell, Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, Alan Arkin, Terrence Stamp, The Great Khali, Bill Murray
Director: Peter Segal

Steve Carrell who shot to fame as the 40 Year Old Virgin, looks set to come back with a comedy in Get Smart. Surely he is looking to erase the memories of the disastrous Evan Almighty of 2007 summer.

Get Smart is a spy comedy more on the likes of Johnny English. The movie directed by Peter Segal (the Longest Yard, Tommy Boy) is based from the characters of the successful TV show of the same name – Get Smart!

Maxwell Smart (Steve Carrell) has a desk job at the secret government agency CONTROL. But his real dreams is that of being a top agent in the agency, much like his own role model Agent 23 (Dwayne Johnson). But for now he has to settle in for his analytical work if not being bullied by other colleagues.

But things change finally when one day he realize that his organization has been attached and all their secret files has been stolen by an evil crime syndicate – CHAOS. Agents keep getting killed all around as the secret identities of the agents have now gone into the hands of CHAOS.

This sudden twist of events force CONTROL Chief (Alan Arkin) with no option but to promote Maxwell as a full agent and send him packing to Russia for a top assignment. Smart will be assisted on the mission by another agent – Agent 99 (Anne Hathway).

EARLY REVIEWS
Latino Review has managed to come up with an early review for this flick. Extremely Positive, I must add.

TEASER

POSTERS

EXCITED?

Well, the film looks like a decent comedy flick. Obviously there was a certain streak of 'smart'ness that existed in the first teaser (Featured above). However the new international trailer that doing the rounds reveal a little more and makes this look a little more silly than what we hoped for. At the moment, this is right in between and can swing any way from here on in the coming months.
