Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), successful author and everyone's favorite fashion icon-next-door, is back, her famously sardonic wit intact and sharper than ever, as she continues to narrate her own story about sex, love and the fashion-obsessed single woman in New York City.
Sex and the City finds Carrie, Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) four years after the hit HBO series ended, as our favorite femmes fashionables continue to juggle jobs, friendships and relationships while they start to navigate motherhood, marriage and Manhattan real estate... some of them may even -- brace yourself -- brave other boroughs outside Manhattan.
For all those who loved and digged the 'voice of the modern women' series, this is a big leap. These are the characters that the target audience loved, and missed over the recent years. Yes, they do have the desperate housewives to fill the gap, but lets admit it, this series has a certain more wit and class, that did win its audiences. And long time writer King comes here to give these characters one more shot...and that too in a more lavish platform.
While the non believers can wail and nag about how this 'chick flick' is a product of some sorry state of mental affairs, it is surely gender chatter. For there are fans out there, who think this is Star Wars for them. So let the force be with them!
While for the guys, there is enough and more going on with Indiana Jones and Iron Man calling the shots at the moment. And even if not, there is even a Speed Racer for the child within ya...so steer away from this one. And yes, good luck trying to avoid the calls of the 'gal gang' who wants to drag you down to the cinema hall nearby to show you why they did this!
THE PANEL ROOM
The niche audience will applaud it; everyone else will either ignore it (the wisest choice) or fall asleep if ambushed into seeing it. REELVIEWS 2/4
The movie is part fashion show, part vacuous soap opera, and part cheesy comedy...a hundred-proof chick flick. ONE GUYS OPINION C-
Fans of the HBO series are sure to enjoy the reunion of the fab four in Sex and the City, who remain glamorous and guy-obsessed. USATODAY 3/4
You wouldn’t spend valuable real-life time hanging out with self-absorbed idiots like this, so why on Earth would you watch a TV show (or a movie) about them? FILMTHREAT 2/5
