THE HAPPENING is yet another movie from the director who gave us SIXTH SENSE. But things have never been as bright as that since those glory days. And now with the last distaster LADY IN THE WATER, Shyamalan's career really requires this one to pull in the audiences.
From the teaser, it looks to be the typcial Shyamalan template all over again and has stuck to his style. But does he have it in him to spook his audiences and take them on a similar trip like he did with his initial Bruce Willis starrers.
THE PANEL ROOM
Talk about getting ripped apart, and that is exactly what the various critics have to say about Shyamalan's latest flick. Most of the critics admit that the thought of watching a Shyamalan movie seems to have a higher fear factor than the movie itself. And with this also being panned by critics, the road ahead for Shyamalan certainly looks dicey.
The Panel Room seems to be in a mood to hand this one a dimsal 1.90 outta 5
there’s something in the air that causes talented writer-directors to forget how to seduce an audience. CHICAGO TRIBUNE 1.5/4

PREVIEW THOUGHTS.....
Frankly, the first teaser had me hooked. It gave the kind of mood that we are in for and I was really happy that Manoj NightShyamalan was coming back and once again playing to his strengths which is 'the fear factor of something out there'.

Manoj Night Shyamalan has never repeated the success of The Sixth Sense with any of his following works. But while Unbreakable and Signs did deliver the promises to an extent, the last two films (Village and Lady in the Water) proved too much of a disaster which makes it important for Shyamalan to bounce back.
Will The Happening finally make it happen this time around with Mark Wahlberg stepping into the circle to carry the movie on his shoulders.
Truth be told, the full trailer that surfaced recently makes me think that this movie could go either way. Suddenly not so sure as I feel a lot more negative vibes from this one. Ah, they should have left it at the teasers itself. Atleast for a few months more.
