Pregnancy was brought into fashion in 2007 with runaway hits like Knocked Up and Juno. So why should we chance the mood? And that theme is not going anywhere soon for in April we have yet another comedy based on similar lines – Baby Mama.
Kate Holbrook is single and a successful business lady. But at 37 all she can think of is babies, something that she realize will not be coming her way.

Not one to step back, Kate instantly decides to hire the services of another woman, Angie (Amy Poehler) to be the surrogate mother for the child. And once Angie is pregnant, Kate believes everything is to follow smoothly.
That was until the mother-to-be Angie soon shows up Kate’s door claiming that she has no place to live after a breakup with her husband. Now Kate and her new roomie Angie have to stick it out together for the sake of the baby, and the laughs ensues.
The cast is the key here. Poehler and Fay are some of the few actresses who have a wonderful flair for comedy and that surely will be tapped into this one. And definitely this too might find the kind of success that 27 Dresses enjoyed earlier this year.
Add to that names like Greg Kinnear, Steve Martin, Sigourney Weaver, and surely we have enough names in there to attract the average moviegoer for a laugh. That is if the comedy can deliver it.
EARLY BUZZ
Latino Review has come up with a reader review which gives the movie a favourable thumbs up. But please be warned that it gives a lot of the storyline.
