Director Roland Emmerich brings an epic pre-historic drama 10000 BC that seems to be nothing more than a jazzed up Apolcalypto from the looks of it.
In a remote moutain tribe, D Leh is a young mammoth hunter who has fallen fall for the beauty of Evolet (Camilla Belle). But when she is taken by the mystery warlords after a raid on their village, D Leh with the help of a few fellow hunters goes out after the warlords and rescue his love.
However the journey takes him and his men through battles with pre historic monsters of all kinds, only to stumble upon a Lost civilisation. This is where they will have to take on their biggest of enemies.
Coming from director Roland Emmerich, we expect the digital wizardy and heavy CGI thrown in like his previous flicks Independance Day, Godzilla and The Day After Tomorrow. However the fear is that justike those movies, this will be all style with very little soul underneath.
But cannot hold that against this German director, afterall all those movies were mega blockbusters around the world. So you see, the man makes movies that gives a visual thrill to the wide world. So maybe huge numbers ultimately pay rich dividends.
However interesting to note here is how this is not a summer release. Strange, because all those flicks of Emmerich's that I named earlier, were all summer bonanzas. But studio Warner Bros after putting it up for a summer 07 , then pushed it to a Dec 07 date and ultimately seemed to have settled in for a Spring 08 release date of 07 March.
Surprising because frankly, no big studio pits a visual popcorn extravaganza in the month of March unless the film has turned out to be a disappointment. And that I guess is what has happened to this project!
Evident cause most of the early previews have generate nothing but a negative response yet.
